HUSSAIN MANAWER CELEBRATES TWO YEARS OF “I WANTED TO QUIT TOO”: AN AFTERNOON OF POETRY, COMMUNITY & CONNECTION AT ROOF EAST

This Sunday 14th June, two-time Sunday Times bestselling poet Hussain Manawer returns to London’s rooftop cultural venue Roof East for a special afternoon celebration marking two years since the release of his impactful book 'I Wanted to Quit Too'.

Hussain Manawer is a British poet, writer and mental health advocate known for his deeply honest and emotionally resonant work. Through spoken word poetry and storytelling, he explores themes such as resilience, identity, grief, hope and mental wellbeing. As a two-time Sunday Times bestselling author, he has built a strong reputation for creating work that connects directly with audiences, often giving voice to experiences that are difficult to articulate. Alongside his writing, he is widely recognised for his live performances and community-led events that encourage openness, reflection and shared conversation.

What began as a personal and deeply reflective book has, over the past two years, developed into something much larger - a community built around honesty, vulnerability and connection. This anniversary gathering brings that journey into focus, celebrating both the book and the people who have found meaning in it.

Expect an afternoon of live poetry performances that revisit the themes of 'I Wanted to Quit Too', delivered with rawness, sensitivity and hope. Hussain Manawer will be joined by other voices that reflect the same spirit of openness and truth that runs through his work.

Alongside the performances, the afternoon will feature meaningful conversations exploring resilience, mental health, creativity and lived experience. The aim is to create a space where poetry becomes dialogue and where audiences are active participants in the exchange rather than passive observers.

The event is also a celebration of the community that has formed around the book over the past two years, bringing together readers, supporters, and creatives who have connected through its message. Networking will be woven into the afternoon, encouraging genuine connection across creative and wellbeing-focused spaces. Get your tickets here.
