PRIDE MONTH 2026: SUPPORTING DIVERSITY, INCLUSION & BELONGING

Pride Month is celebrated every June to honour the LGBTQ+ community, recognising its history, achievements and ongoing journey towards equality, acceptance and inclusion. It is a time to celebrate diversity, amplify LGBTQ+ voices and acknowledge the contributions that individuals from the community have made across all aspects of society.

The origins of Pride Month can be traced back to the Stonewall Uprising of June 1969 in New York City. Following a police raid on the Stonewall Inn, members of the LGBTQ+ community stood up against discrimination and injustice, sparking a movement that would become a defining moment in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. Today, Pride Month serves as both a celebration of progress and a reminder of the importance of continuing to advocate for equality and human rights.

Throughout the month, communities around the world come together to participate in a wide range of events, including educational workshops, cultural exhibitions, panel discussions, performances and community gatherings.
